Today, the Statistical Institute of Belize published its latest statistics on the consumer price index, external trade, and the consumer confidence index for April 2026.
Consumer Price Index
The Statistical Institute of Belize’s most recent monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) survey showed that, for the month of June 2026, the All-Items CPI, which measures overall price levels across all categories of consumer goods and services, stood at 125.3. This was an increase from 119.7 in June 2025, reflecting a national monthly inflation rate of 4.6 percent.
The year-to-date inflation rate for the first six months of the year 2026, when compared to the first six months of 2025, was 2.5 percent. While most major CPI categories were up during this period, the overall increase was largely the result of higher prices for ‘Transport’, ‘Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages’, and ‘Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels’.

Consumer Confidence Index
The national Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) stood at 41.1 in June 2026, down by a marginal 0.4 percent from 41.3 in May 2026. Consumer confidence continued its downward trend of the past few months, albeit at a slower pace when compared to the sharper decreases observed earlier in the year. The modest decline for the month of June was mainly due to weaker sentiment in the ‘Durable Goods’ and ‘Present’ components, while consumers’ ‘Expectations’ about the future improved during the month.
