Microdata Access Program

The Statistical Institute of Belize aims to allow researchers, under strict supervision, access to statistical data sets from our various surveys and censuses. In accordance with Section 42(5) of the SIB Act of 2006, the Institute seeks to provide a mechanism whereby researchers can access detailed data files solely for bona fide research or statistical purposes, without jeopardizing respondents’ confidentiality.

Through this program, approved researchers can access databases on-site at the SIB’s office, under the supervision of the Institute’s staff, to conduct statistical analysis. Alternatively, a subset of variables and/or cases from a database may be accessed for off-site use, provided that they will not lead to the identification of an individual, household, or business enterprise.

How can researchers access SIB’s Microdata?

  1. Read our Microdata Access Policy to see if you meet the necessary criteria.
  2. Fill out our Application for Access to Microdata. Check to ensure that all required information is provided, including description of study, methodology, and signature and stamp from the agency sponsoring your research project.
  3. Submit completed form by email to info@mail.sib.org.bz
  4. Your request will be reviewed and processed within two working days.
