Statistics are important to any country, institution or organization because not only are they the main instruments used in the development of policies but they also provide a platform as far as planning for any future activities are concerned.

WHAT TYPE OF STATISTICS DOES SIB PRODUCE?

Currently SIB produces population, demographic, import, export, inflation, GDP and labor force statistics. Note that copies of the published information are available on our website.

HOW CAN I RECEIVE THE LATEST STATISTICS FROM THE STATISTICAL INSTITUTE OF BELIZE?

WHICH AGENCIES ARE MAJOR PRODUCERS OF OFFICIAL STATISTICS OF BELIZE?

The Central Bank of Belize, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Budget Management, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and the Belize Tourism Board are among the main producers of official statistics on Belize. The websites, physical and email addresses for all these agencies are available via the Government of Belize website.

WHICH OFFICE SHOULD I CONTACT TO ORDER A BIRTH, DEATH OR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE?

The Vital Statistics Unit in the Registrar General Department is responsible for issuing these documents. It is located in Belize City and can be reached at telephone numbers (501) 223-5625/35 or at email address vitalstatsbz@yahoo.com .

WHICH TYPES OF SURVEYS ARE CONDUCTED EVERY YEAR?

The standard surveys conducted every year include the Labour Force Survey (L.F.S) which is conducted semi-annually and the Consumer Price Index (C.P.I.) which is conducted monthly.

HOW OFTEN IS CENSUS TAKEN?

Generally a census in conducted every ten years though some countries conduct them on a more frequent basis.
