2024 STATISTICAL DATA USERS CONFERENCE BRINGS TOGETHER NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERTS
Belmopan City, Cayo, October 23, 2024 – The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) proudly announces the successful completion of the 2024 Statistical Data Users Conference, held at the Belize Biltmore Plaza in Belize City. This engaging event brought together over 40 individuals in person, with hundreds more participating remotely through SIB’s social media platforms.
Under the theme “Improving Lives Through Statistics: Strengthening and Innovating Together,” the conference brought together a diverse group of experts, policymakers, researchers, and data enthusiasts to discuss the evolving data landscape in Belize. Participants explored the vital role of data in shaping effective policies, improving quality of life, and driving national development.
The conference featured key presentations, including:

- From Insights to Impact: Good Practices in Data Use
- An Introduction to the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)
- The Advantages of using the MPI for Policy-Making
- “The Secrets of Happiness in the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey” – Research Paper
- Panel Discussion: Challenges and Opportunities in Belize’s Data Landscape
- An Overview of the Future of Data Communication
- “Agile Market Research: Leveraging Data for Rapid Insights” – Presentation
- Final Panel Discussion on the Future of Data in Belize
The event served as a forum for lively conversations on leveraging data to enhance decision-making and address the persistent challenges and opportunities faced by Belize’s National Statistical System.
