Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) host training for the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)

Belmopan, November 10th, 2023 – The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB), in partnership with the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI),  hosted a five-day training workshop on the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).  The event was held in Belize City from November 6th to  10th, 2023 at the Belize Training and Employment Center and was facilitated by Dr. Monica Pinilla and Jakob Dirksen from OPHI.

The training aimed to provide a conceptual and technical introduction to the MPI using the Alkire-Foster method developed by OPHI.  Participants included technical staff from the SIB, key Government Ministries, and other stakeholders with an interest in measuring poverty.

The SIB thanks all participants and facilitators for a successful workshop.
