On Friday October 13, 2017, the Statistical Institute of Belize and various other statistics producing agencies held a joint public exhibition in observance of Caribbean Statistics Day under the theme “Improving the Lives of People – Advancing the Action Plan for Statistics in CARICOM”. This event was held at the George Price Center for Peace and Development in Belmopan, and saw visitors from students, members of the general public, and data users in the public sector.
This marked the ninth year in which national statistical offices across the region have observed Caribbean Statistics Day, which serves to showcase the work and strides being made in the field of official statistics, as well as sensitize data users and the general public as to the type of statistics being produced nationally. Joining the SIB in this event were several partner agencies in the production of official statistics including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Human Development, Police Department, and the Central Bank of Belize.
