Retirement of the Statistical Institute of Belize’s Director-General
The Board of Directors of the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) hereby informs its stakeholders, international and local partners, clients, and the general public that, effective August 1, 2020, Dr. Leopold Perriott, Director General, proceeded on retirement. Ms. Diana Castillo-Trejo, Deputy Director-General, will now be acting in the position of Director-General until further notice.
Dr. Perriott was an integral part of the SIB’s senior management team since 2012, when he joined as the Institute’s Deputy Director-General. He subsequently served in the capacity of Director-General for six years, from 2014 to 2020, during which he led in the implementation of numerous initiatives under the SIB’s Modernization Program. Major achievements included overall institutional strengthening, capacity building of SIB’s staff, review and improvement of statistical methodologies, strengthening of the Belize National Statistical System, and spearheading preparations for the upcoming Population and Housing Census.
The Board, management, and staff of the SIB extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Perriott for his leadership and dedicated service and acknowledge his many accomplishments on behalf of the Institute over the past eight years. They also take this opportunity to extend congratulations and best wishes to Ms. Castillo-Trejo, the SIB’s new Acting Director-General.
