On Wednesday, the Statistical Institute of Belize published its latest statistics on the consumer price index, external trade, and the consumer confidence index for June 2025.
Consumer Price Index
For the month of June 2025, the Statistical Institute of Belize’s monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) survey showed that the All-Items CPI, which measures overall price levels across consumer goods and services, stood at 119.7. This was an increase from 118.4 in June 2024, reflecting a national inflation rate of 1.1 percent. The year-to-date inflation rate for the first six months of the year 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, stood at 1.4 percent. While most of the major CPI categories recorded increases during this period, the overall rise was mainly driven by higher prices for ‘Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages’ (2.4 percent); ‘Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuels’ (2.3 percent); and ‘Personal Care, Social Protection and Miscellaneous Goods and Services’ (3.2 percent).

Merchandise Trade
Belize’s total imports for the month of June 2025 were valued at $227.5 million. This was a decrease of 6.5 percent or $15.9 million from June 2024, when imports were valued at $243.4 million. Merchandise imports for the six months, January to June 2025, amounted to $1.386 billion, representing a 6.3 percent or $92.6 million decrease from $1.479 million recorded in the same period last year.
Total domestic exports for June 2025 amounted to $28 million, down by 20.2 percent or $7.1 million when compared to exports for June 2024, which were valued at $35.1 million. Merchandise exports for the period January to June 2025 totaled $189.7 million, down 5.5 percent or $11.1 million from the same period last year, when imports were valued at $200.8 million.

Consumer Confidence Index
For the month of June 2025, the national Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) stood at 45.2, a decrease of 4.8 percent from 47.5 in May 2025 (see Figure 1). This was a continuation of the general downward trend in overall consumer confidence that has been observed since the start of this year.
