Consumer Price Index
Results from the Statistical Institute of Belize’s monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) survey showed that, for November 2023, the overall national inflation rate was 4.2 percent. The All-Items CPI, which summarizes price levels across all categories of consumer goods and services, stood at 117.7, up from 113.0 in November 2022. The year-to-date inflation rate for the first eleven months of 2023 stood at 4.5 percent. During this period, the ‘Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages’ category increased by 12.8 percent, as higher prices across all types of food products were recorded.

Merchandise Trade
Belize’s total imports for November 2023 were valued at $209.1 million. This represented a 23.8 percent or $65.3 million decline from November 2022, when imports were valued at $274.4 million. Merchandise imports for the first eleven months, January to November 2023, amounted to $2.451 billion, a decrease of 3.5 percent or $89.9 million from $2.541 billion in the first eleven months of 2022.

Domestic exports for November 2023 totaled $22.8 million, up by a marginal 1.5 percent or $0.35 million compared to exports for November 2022, valued at $22.4 million. Merchandise exports from January to November 2023 totaled $384.2 million, a decrease of 16.6 percent or $76.5 million from $460.7 million recorded for the same period in 2022.
