Population and Housing Census 2020 Logo Competition Rules

1. The competition

• Competition participants will submit logo designs to represent the 2020 Population and Housing Census. The winning design will become the official logo for the 2020 Census.
• A logo is a symbol, sign, graphic mark or emblem used by an organization to identify its products
• The competition opens on March 28th and closes on July 13^th, 2018.

2. Who is eligible:

• This contest is open to anyone on an individual basis. Contestants can submit multiple entries.
• Members of the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) Board of Directors, Staff of the SIB, and their immediate relatives are not eligible to enter.
• Contest is open to Belize residents only.

3. Judging panel:

SIB Management, staff and external partners.

 

4. Prizes:

• The winning logo will receive a cash prize of $1,000 (One thousand) BZD
• Should the SIB find it necessary to combine text and graphics from two separate entries to create the Census 2020 logo, the prize will be shared equally.
• The most “liked” logo on the Statistical Institute of Belize’s Facebook page will receive a Kindle Fire 8” HD. In case the winning logo is also the most “liked” logo on Facebook, this prize will be given to the second most “liked” logo.
• The oldest and youngest competitors will each receive SIB souvenirs.

5. Announcement and awarding of prizes:

• The awards will be announced and presented at a press conference held in Belize City in October, 2018.

All e-entries must state in the subject line SIB Census 2020 Logo Competition.

 

8. Requirements for entries:

• Entries must be submitted in either digital or hard copy formats.
• Submit two copies of the logo, one in color and the other in black and white.
• The logo details should be clear when minimized to the size of 15mm x 15 mm.
• Each entry must use no more than 4 colors
• The logo must be accompanied by a description for the logo idea.
• Entries must bear no signatures or any personal signals.
• Each Entry should be accompanied by a separate document, indicating:
  • Full name(s) of the individual(s)
  • Date of Birth of the individual(s)
  • Address, email, and phone number of the individual(s)

 

9. Other Terms and Conditions

• The logo must be an original design and must not have received any previous awards.
• The work must be created by the artist him/herself.
• The award–winning works become the property of the Statistical Institute of Belize from the date they are received. The designer waives any copyright in their design. The Statistical Institute of Belize may use the design at its discretion, and reserves the right to determine which entries it displays.
• Any person submitting a logo certifies that the logo does not infringe the rights of any third party and is not in violation of any copyright.
• The winner will be informed directly by the Statistical Institute of Belize by telephone or email and invited to an announcement about the prize at a media briefing in October 2018.
• By participating in the competition, participants accept all competition rules and agree to be bound by them.
