- The competition
- Competition participants will submit original jingles to represent the 2020 Population and Housing Census. The winning entry will become the official jingle for the 2020 Census.
- A jingle is a short verse or tune designed to be easily remembered, especially as used in advertising
- The competition opens on March 28th and closes on July 13th, 2018.
- Who is eligible:
- This contest is open to anyone on an individual basis.
- Members of the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) Board of Directors, Staff of the SIB, and their immediate relatives are not eligible to enter.
- Contest is open to Belize residents only.
- Judging panel:
SIB Management, staff and external partners.
- Prizes:
- The winning jingle will receive a cash prize of $2,000 (Two thousand) BZD
- The most “liked” jingle on the Statistical Institute of Belize’s Facebook page will receive a Kindle Fire 8” HD. In case the winning jingle is also the most “liked” jingle on Facebook, this prize will be given to the second most “liked” jingle.
- The oldest and youngest competitors will each receive SIB souvenirs.
- Announcement and awarding of prizes:
- The awards will be announced and presented at a press conference held in Belize City in October, 2018.

All e-entries must state in the subject line SIB Census 2020 Slogan Competition.
- Requirements for entries:
- Entries must be submitted in digital format.
- The duration of each Entry should not exceed ninety (90) seconds and should have the capability of being abbreviated into thirty (30) second and fifteen (15) second versions;
- The audio file of the Jingle must be in either WAV or MP3 format, at a preferred sample rate of 48kHz (DVD quality) and the file name should bear the song Title.
- The lyrics should be submitted in rich text format
- Only one (1) WAV/MP3 file per entry
- Each Entry should be accompanied by a separate document, indicating:
- Full name(s) of the individual(s)
- Date of Birth of the individual(s)
- Address, email, and phone number of the individual(s)
- Other Terms and Conditions
- The jingle must be an original idea and must not have been previously recorded for commercial purposes or performed live.
- The lyrics must adhere to the standard rating classification: ‘G’ (General Audience)
- The jingle should not contain any indecent or offensive language.
- The lyrics should not be politically offensive or defamatory in any way.
- The lyrics should not contain any language which may be offensive to any ethnic, social or religious group.
- Individuals (writer, composer, performer) may be associated with only one entry.
- An entry must not have been previously or recently licensed to any publisher, printed and/or distributed in hard copy form or circulated through the Internet
- The award–winning jingles become the property of the Statistical Institute of Belize from the date they are received. The artist waives any copyright in their submitted work. The Statistical Institute of Belize may use the jingle at its discretion, and reserves the right to determine which entries it publishes.
- Any person submitting a jingle certifies that the jingle does not infringe the rights of any third party and is not in violation of any copyright.
- The winner will be informed directly by the Statistical Institute of Belize by telephone or email and invited to an announcement about the prize at a media briefing in October 2018.
By participating in the competition, participants accept all competition rules and agree to be bound by them.
