About SIB
The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) was established on April 1, 2007, replacing the Central Statistical Office as the national statistical agency of Belize. The primary functions of SIB are to collect, compile, extract, analyze, and release official statistics about the demographic, social, environmental, economic, and general activities and conditions of Belize on an impartial basis and in accordance with professional standards and ethics. The SIB is governed by a board of directors representing government and non-government sectors.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF SIB
The primary functions of the Statistical Institute of Belize are to collect, analyse and disseminate representative information about the economic, demographic, gender, social and environmental situation in Belize, subject to the principles of reliability, objectivity, transparency and confidentiality.
AUTHORITY OF SIB
As the sole body having authority to approve, monitor and coordinate the processes of data collection, compilation and analyses by any public body, the SIB is the only authorized Institute which can approve the official status of any data published by any other public body.
SERVICES OF SIB
In addition to the regular production of the key information and indicators, the SIB offers additional statistics-related services upon request and by special arrangements.
