SIB AND UNDP HOST TRAINING WORKSHOP ON MULTIDIMENSIONAL POVERTY INDEX FOR POLICY DEVELOPMENT

Belmopan, November 15th, 2023 – The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), hosted a two-day training workshop on using the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for effective policy-making. The workshop was held from November 14th to 15th, 2023 at the UNDP office in Belmopan and included participants from various government and non-government agencies.

The aim of the training was to enhance understanding of the MPI and build capacity in using it as a tool MPI for policy development. The training utilized shared country experiences to demonstrate the practical application of the MPI in formulating policies.

The workshop was an important step in providing stakeholders with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively incorporate the Multidimensional Poverty Index into Belize’s policy landscape.
