CARICOM Peer Review Mission Commences at the Statistical Institute of Belize
BELMOPAN CITY, BELIZE, May 9, 2025 –
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, through its Regional Statistics Programme (RSP) will launch the second peer review mission on Monday 12 May 2025 at the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB), Belmopan, Belize.
The five-day mission will be conducted by experts from the national statistical offices of The Bahamas, Jamaica and Guyana, and representatives from the CARICOM Secretariat’s Regional Statistics Programme.
This peer review is the second installment of a series of missions being undertaken across selected CARICOM Member States as part of the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) SFCICP Project: Consultancy for Improving Statistics in CARICOM through the Implementation of the CARICOM Quality Assurance Framework (CQAF) and a System of Peer Reviews against the CARICOM Code of Good Statistical Practices (CGSP).
It forms an integral part of CARICOM’s ongoing implementation of the 2019–2030 Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS), which aims to, inter alia, standardize and harmonize statistical systems throughout the Community.
The mission will assess and strengthen the institutional environment, coordination mechanisms, statistical processes and outputs of the National Statistical System (NSS) of Belize while promoting the production of high-quality official statistics that are aligned with both regional and international standards.
The findings from this Review are expected to serve as a catalyst for similar quality improvements across other national statistical offices in the CARICOM region.
Key stakeholders from Belize’s NSS and experts from the European Statistical System (ESS) are also expected to participate in the mission.
